Painted only blue
Sorrow in every sinking hue
Wrote only black
Walking limbos gay fading tracksA broken heart sees haze
Trapped within a glass-shard mazeSuddenly there’s you
Swapping colours for shining new
Red bricks crack
Rainbow colours flooding backA broken heart sees haze
Trapped within a glass-shard mazeBloodred life begin anew
Changing this burnt desert view
Healing what was cracked
Bringing back my beloved lilacsA healing heart’s star blaze

Flaming within a rose tinted gaze
Written for MTB: Synesthesia over at dVerse poets pub.
I find Synesthesia, really interesting. Looking at that Tedtalk and the Lorde interview (see videos below) I’m reminded of those patterns and colors I get as warning before and during a migraine attack. The patterns and colors change due to sound and touch, and have nothing whatsoever to do with object reality.
A broken heart sees haze
Trapped within a glass-shard maze
I really love this couplet redcat, excellent piece!
Lovely rhyming verses. Specially like the turn from blue sorrow hues to rainbow colors. The ending part is my favorite:
A healing heart’s star blaze
Flaming within a rose tinted gaze
Lots of truth in this one! Loss of any kind tends to haze and glaze our perception … Love brings us back into focus!!
The rhyming works so well in this, very magical with the vivid imagery and raw emotions! <3
I love that refrain ‘trapped within a glass-shard maze.’ I’ve only experienced migraine once, but it felt like this. Ouch!
So much to praise in this poem, but I too am particularly drawn to the repeated lines:
‘A broken heart sees haze
Trapped within a glass-shard maze’.
Colours in migraines – yes, I’ve seen them too.
Beautiful, deep and rhythmic writing 🧡
This is so poignant. I especially love; “Bloodred life begin anew changing this burnt desert view.”💝
Love the rhymes, but those lilacs make me think of early summer and how much that can mean to overcome grief as well
