Girl blue
What’s love done to you
Girl blue
Your heart torn in twoWhirlwind is through
He has left you for her
His love, never true
Sneaked around, lied to youGirl blue
What’s love done to you
Girl blue
Your heart torn in twoPink dreams, crushed, adieu
Sad sorrow, shines from you
Once turtle doves flew
No more dreaming for youGirl blue
What’s love done to you
Girl blue
Your heart torn in twoNo hugs, no rendezvous
Lonely nights before you
Cold winter storms brew
Raging winds to cleanse youGirl blue

Written for The Sunday Muse. Chatted to a friend yesterday while feeling really blue, battling those inner critics and saboteurs. He challenged me to try silence them with one more lyrics written, first version of melody sung. At first I had no ideas, and no energy. Then I looked at the prompt photo and took a walk.
When I came in I had the refrain both in my head and recorded on my phone. Thankful for the help it is when another believes in you when yourself can’t.
Inspired by the photo. I’ve never heard of the artist before, but now I’m curious.

I am ready to hear you sing this …. ready and waiting! Happy Holidays.
Love the “Girl Blue” repetition. Terrific!
The repeating lines strengthen the flow and message here RedCat! Lovely!
I agree with gbit, I love the repetition of “Girl Blue.” I’d never heard of this artist either.
Laura did a song similar to this early in her career. I want to say it was called “Billy’s Blues.”
Ok….Where’s the music? Love to hear it sung!
Strong piece. Magical though sad! Well written gitl blue. I am listening to Laura’s album “Angel In The Dark” as I write this. Damn she was so good. Left us way too soon!
