I am the colour, of rebirth
of tender leaves
bursting bright
from brown budsI am the colour, to invigorate
to melt frozen hearts
as songbirds sings
the flood of thawing tearsI am the colour, of regrowth
of slender stems
twinkling through
pale autumn ashesI am the colour, of new hope
of sunshine through dark clouds
as light lengthens
from midwinter’s dreaded daysI am the colour, of spring
of new beginnings
shining stars
on bare branchesI am the colour, of yet shy love

I knew even before the I got to the opening image that you were referring to green!! 💝💝 This is absolutely stunning! Especially adore; “I am the colour, of yet shy love of a beating heart quickening breath and beat at the thought of a touch.” *swoon*
Green brings hope! This is lovely.
I love the way you described the color without saying it. Looking forward to all of what you describe here.
You’ve captured the energy of green here. Ending it with “the thought of a touch” is powerful! 💚
As Van Morrison sang, ‘It’s not easy being green’, the colour that offers hope to everything. I love the way you started with rebirth and spring leaves, Helene, and took us on a calming stroll through green. I especially love the lines:
‘I am the colour, of regrowth
of slender stems
twinkling through
pale autumn ashes’.
Love green redcat! Love this poem you have created to celebrate it — well written! It is one of the components of teal, and azure, two of my favorite colors. It is also one of the two colors of my favorite college sports teams — the University of Oregon… Green & Yellow. Go Ducks!!
I love your upbeat hopeful and inspirational poem!
Oh that light shade of green… the spring is wonderful .
Red Cat,
This is so lovely with freshly sprung life; I especially like “I am the colour, of yet shy love” — a great note to end on.

What a color that is! The green blood in all of us. – B
I especially love your closing stanza. Wonderful!
