Daily Haibun, June 30th – Happiness and Sunset

© RedCat

As I mentioned in my Wednesday Re-post I have have had two hours dance workshop tonight. On my way home I took a long walk through city. To stretch tiered muscles, feel the puls of the city (haven’t been much of that for what feels like ages) and enjoy the beautiful sunset.

Few things makes me as happy as dancing.

As sunset clouds glow
My mind fills with happy flow

Ode to a dancer (2019 Re-post)

©REDCAT

Your movement is mesmerizing enchanting
Your body radiating exuberance
Your eyes sparkle with joy
Sharing the bliss of dance with us all

Teaching how to be in the moment of movement
A guiding star to follow
All these words and more I would pen for you
As many as it takes to show my gratitude

After all, the smile on your face, the energy you give
Have led me back to a path thought lost
Rekindled a passion smothered
Showed that honing your skill will always pay off

I thank the fates for putting you in my life

In gusting autumn winds
bare bowers sway like
arms of dancers.

Re-post comment:

Sitting on a bus on my way to a two hours dance workshop for the dancer who inspired this post. It felt natural that this was this week’s archive find.

This is my first try at a Haibun. And had I only formatted it differently and used interpunktion it could have been. Instead it’s a poem followed by a Haiku. And I decided to leave it like that.

Where did the trip go wrong? – A Puente Story

PHOTO PROMPT © Russell Gayer

It had been a colourful hippie bus, proclaiming love and peace.
Vibrant, buzzing with hope and life.
Wheels turning for untold miles, on roads and in minds.
Traveling all over the country spreading the word.
Encouraging the travelers to go further, look beyond.
Envision a world where everyone belongs.

~ Where did the trip go wrong? ~

When did we lose it’s soulful songs?
Forget that a new era never dawned.
Today its message a lost echo, barely heard.
Such sentiments much harder to find.
The world full of nature’s destruction, division and strife.
A faded, bleached out memory overgrown with weeds.

Daily Haibun, June 29th – Lost skill

After waiting and waiting. The time has finally come. Grandma is fully vaccinated. The kids can come and stay. They are elated. I look at the bags to pack and realize – my pack in a heartbeat skill have faded. I’m back to writing lists and overthinking.

Seasons come and go
They never forget how to
Continuous flow

Daily Haibun, June 28th – Change Anxiety

Life is change. We grow from children to adolescents, and on to adulthood. We grow from young adults, to middle age ones and on to old age if we’re lucky. We change schools and jobs. Homes and hometowns. We might change friends and interests. We change clothes and hair styles.

We change in response to events we have no control over. Loss of loved ones. Accidents and catastrophy. Happenings in the whole wide world.

Yet, change is hard for so many. Even positive change. Leading to worry and anxiety. Ruminations about what could have been or what might happen. The confusing feeling of being adrift, without steady ground.

The last year have been a perplexing mix of change while at the same time standing still. Sheltering from the pandemic. More changes will come when we get back to a new normal. We really should change our behaviour concerning destroying the planet we live on.

I have a day or two left before I have to decide on how much I want my life to change in the coming year. Needless to say, my mind is spinning like crazy, weighing every option.

Seed bud flower wilt
Seasons change eternally
Flow with the changes

Forbidden Cave – A Story Poem

Raychan on Unsplash

She knew the cave was for acolytes forbidden.
It was said it could render a person utterly mad.
But if it was truly dangerous, wouldn’t it be better hidden?
Her curiosity evaporated any hesitation she might have had.

The stone carvings were massive, reaching beyond the light of her torch.
It fluttered, spluttered and gasped in the airless cave.
With a quick spell she summoned light from her sorceress brooch.
Took a breath from the air-sack that would her life save.

With a frown she studied the carvings, so intricate and complex.
Surely they belonged to the ancient astrology.
Or they meant nothing, only carved to vex and perplex.
Born out of a mad woman’s deranged fantasy.

She sat down to meditate, seeing if she could find any meaning at all.
With a burst of insight the meaning to her occurred.
The truth nearly obliterated her mind, made her skin crawl.
They were incantations meant to summon eldritch horrors from another world.

Daily Haibun, June 27th – Blue Sky, Pink Clouds

© RedCat

Just after ten at night. The sun is setting in a blue sky with wisp’s of clouds painted pink.

I’m seeking calm, inspiration and insights by looking at the sky. Listening to the birds singing. For a moment I feel the peace and joy you only find by slowing your breath. Being present in the moment.

In the pale blue sky
Moment stretches eternal
Soaring with birdsong
