Multicoloured Gem

Multicoloured many faceted gem
From which arcane teachings stem

Lens through which I learned to cross boundaries
To search deeper than the eye sees
Listen to how the heart breathes
Seek and look beyond approved windows
Search out that which sets the soul free

Shifting hypnotic kaleidoscope
The portal that leads to multicoloured hope
To words that helps me cope
Spelling the message that even for the queer there’s hope

Swirling mystic door
That illuminates the hidden inner core
Paints landscapes never seen before
Leads to uncharted shores
To soul realms yet unexplored

Glyph showing knowledge rest not only in the words that get heard
True wisdom is found in the silence spaces between words

  1. A wonderful poem! The ending….true wisdom is found in the silence between the words….YES! And these words also struck me
“Seek and look beyond approved windows
Search out that which sets the soul free”
I’m reminded of a statement a counselor said to my husband and I as our daughter at almost 16, was about to leave for a year as a foreign exchange student. She said the best lesson we can learn is that things aren’t better, they aren’t worse, they’re just different. That cultural lesson did well for her….and then again, many many years later, I remembered that message as I became dean of a Global MBA and traveled the world by myself to find global internships….eating very different foods, meetings in very different cultures.

  2. ‘True wisdom is found in the silence spaces between words’ – I agree absolutely. I have been examining this idea a lot in my poetry lately. I love the rhythm of your words!

  3. Love the power abd drama of the continued repetition of rhyme. Strong piece, deep and interrogative. Well written. Reminds me of the feeling I had after my first really soul gripping LSD trip.

  4. “Seek and look beyond approved windows / Search out that which sets the soul free” and “‘True wisdom is found in the silence spaces between words”

Love those two lines of this wonderful write.

  5. Like others, I focused on the space, the often unbridgeable space, between words. Many of my friends are celebrating Pride Month/ June .. love this line in your poem ‘even for the queer there’s hope.’ Cheers.

  6. This is lovely – meditative and searching – ‘landscapes never seen before, leads to unchartered shores’ – perfect image as well.

  7. I love the way you dumped these rhymes on the reader, forcing you in and making you confront the world and the emotion you create.
