Falling Apart by Pegboard Nerds, Stonebank & EMEL – Saturday Song

Falling Apart by Pegboard Nerds, Stonebank & EMEL

Can upbeat happy songs convey feelings of depression. Sure it can!

Tonight’s Saturday song is one such example. Released less than two weeks ago Falling Apart by Pegboard Nerds, Stonebank & EMEL is a happy bounce around trance anthem that I would love to dance wildly to while forgetting all my troubles!

If you can’t laugh at the darkness it will swallow you whole.

Enjoy!

Falling Apart Lyrics

Watch my life pass me by
Never knowing where I belong
In the web of love and lies
As you string me along and

I can’t breathe, I can’t see
I’m losing sight of everything
I feel the walls closing in, closing in
Am I falling apart?

Oh I just wanna be free
I just wanna be free
I think I’m falling apart
Oh I just wanna be free, free, free
I’m falling apart
I’m falling apart
I’m falling apart
I’m falling apart

I can’t breathe, I can’t see
I’m losing sight of everything
I feel the walls closing in, closing in

I feel I’m falling apart, I feel I’m falling apart
I’m falling apart
I’m falling apart, Think I’m falling apart
I’m falling apart
I’m falling apart

Watch my life pass me by
Never knowing where I belong
In the web of love and lies
As you string me along and

I can’t breathe, I can’t see
I’m losing sight of everything
I feel the walls closing in, closing in

I feel I’m falling apart
I feel I’m falling apart

I’m falling apart
I’m falling apart
I’m falling apart
I’m falling apart
I feel I’m falling apart
I feel I’m falling apart
I feel I’m falling apart

I’m falling apart
I’m falling apart
I’m falling apart
I’m falling apart

Eric Sharp – Monday Blues feat Zhao (with Lyrics) – Saturday Song

Eric Sharp – Monday Blues feat Zhao

As I wrote my daily Haibun Monday, I began thinking of songs about Monday Blues. Searching around a bit I found an artist I never heard of before, with a really good song about struggling with the blues, and hope of overcoming it. So here’s tonight’s Saturday Song: Eric Sharp – Monday Blues feat Zhao. It felt really very relatable. I couldn’t find the lyrics online, so in the end I decided to transcribe them myself since I feel they deliver an important message of hope and friendship.

“Monday Blues is a personal piece that comes from a place of empathy and compassion. It was written during a time when someone very close to me was unearthing deep-seated psychic pain in a healing process from their past. The verses are imbued with struggle and heaviness, while the chorus inspires hope, and faith in the ability move beyond our hurts together. Everyone has challenges in life, and we are never alone in our feelings. There is no wound too deep to be made whole, and I hope this song reminds people of that.’

Eric Sharp – Monday Blues feat Zhao – Lyrics

Monday blues trying to get you down
Let’s not talk about, ever wanna talk about
Everybody gonna let you down
Let’s not talk about, ever wanna talk about
You say that you don’t need love
Let’s not talk about, ever wanna talk about
I was over to you had enough
Let’s not talk about, ever wanna talk about

We’re gonna find our way out of the hole we dug
Make back what we lost
Times when we gave up
We never compromise until we’re satisfied
Through this troubled times I’ll be by your side

Wide awake in the dead of night
Let’s not talk about, ever wanna talk about
Fear chasing me through my mind
Let’s not talk about, ever wanna talk about
Hurry up it’s  gonna be to late
Let’s not talk about, ever wanna talk about
It not enough just to be okey
Let’s not talk about, ever wanna talk about

Let’s not talk about, ever wanna talk about

We’re gonna find our way out of the hole we dug
Make back what we lost
Times when we gave up
We never compromise until we’re satisfied
Through this troubled times I’ll be by your side

We’re gonna

We’re gonna find our way out of the hole we dug
Make back what we lost
Times when we gave up
We never compromise until we’re satisfied
Through this troubled times I’ll be by your side

We’re gonna find our way out of the hole we dug
Make back what we lost
Times when we gave up
We never compromise until we’re satisfied
Through this troubled times I’ll be by your side

I’m Still Standing – A Quadrille

I pause by the stand of ancient trees
Breathing shallow, beset by old nightmares
Inner demons that won’t let me be
Harmful self-thoughts that long had me ensnared
Breathing deep among trees, sets my mind free
I’m still standing, whatever was done to me

When I read tonight’s prompt at dVerse, a song directly popped up in my mind and I knew I had to incorporate it somehow.

I’m still standing – Lyrics

You could never know what it’s like
Your blood like winter freezes just like ice
And there’s a cold lonely light that shines from you
You’ll wind up like the wreck you hide behind that mask you use

And did you think this fool could never win?
Well look at me, I’m coming back again
I got a taste of love in a simple way
And if you need to know while I’m still standing, you just fade away

Don’t you know I’m still standing better than I ever did
Looking like a true survivor, feeling like a little kid
I’m still standing after all this time
Picking up the pieces of my life without you on my mind

I’m still standing (Yeah, yeah, yeah)
I’m still standing (Yeah, yeah, yeah)

Once I never could have hoped to win
You’re starting down the road leaving me again
The threats you made were meant to cut me down
And if our love was just a circus, you’d be a clown by now

You know I’m still standing better than I ever did
Looking like a true survivor, feeling like a little kid
I’m still standing after all this time
Picking up the pieces of my life without you on my mind

I’m still standing (Yeah, yeah, yeah)
I’m still standing (Yeah, yeah, yeah)

Don’t you know that I’m still standing better than I ever did
Looking like a true survivor, feeling like a little kid
I’m still standing after all this time
Picking up the pieces of my life without you on my mind

I’m still standing (Yeah, yeah, yeah)
I’m still standing (Yeah, yeah, yeah)
I’m still standing (Yeah, yeah, yeah)
I’m still standing (Yeah, yeah, yeah)
I’m still standing (Yeah, yeah, yeah)
I’m still standing (Yeah, yeah, yeah)

Firework by Katy Perry – Saturday Song

Firework by Katy Perry

After writing both As I Reap The Dreams That I Have Sown and August Approaches yesterday, I decided that tonight’s Saturday Song had to be one about overcoming obstacles, adversity, challenges and hard times. About not giving up, even when that’s all you feel like doing. I found this list of songs about all that. So I started to read lyrics and the choice fell on Firework by Katy Perry

Do you ever feel like a plastic bag
Drifting through the wind, wanting to start again?
Do you ever feel, feel so paper thin
Like a house of cards, one blow from cavin’ in?
Do you ever feel already buried deep?
Six feet under screams, but no one seems to hear a thing

From Firework by Katy Perry

I know exactly how that feels. But now I have to get away from that, find my voice, develop my passion and allow my light to shine bright.

Enjoy!

Firework – Lyrics

Do you ever feel like a plastic bag
Drifting through the wind, wanting to start again?
Do you ever feel, feel so paper thin
Like a house of cards, one blow from cavin’ in?
Do you ever feel already buried deep?
Six feet under screams, but no one seems to hear a thing
Do you know that there’s still a chance for you?
‘Cause there’s a spark in you

You just gotta ignite the light
And let it shine
Just own the night
Like the Fourth of July

‘Cause baby, you’re a firework
Come on, show ’em what you’re worth
Make ’em go, “Oh, oh, oh”
As you shoot across the sky
Baby, you’re a firework
Come on, let your colors burst
Make ’em go, “Oh, oh, oh”
You’re gonna leave ’em all in awe, awe, awe

You don’t have to feel like a waste of space
You’re original, cannot be replaced
If you only knew what the future holds
After a hurricane comes a rainbow
Maybe a reason why all the doors are closed
So you could open one that leads you to the perfect road
Like a lightning bolt, your heart will glow
And when it’s time, you’ll know

You just gotta ignite the light
And let it shine
Just own the night
Like the Fourth of July

‘Cause baby, you’re a firework
Come on, show ’em what you’re worth
Make ’em go, “Oh, oh, oh”
As you shoot across the sky
Baby, you’re a firework
Come on, let your colors burst
Make ’em go, “Oh, oh, oh”
You’re gonna leave ’em all in awe, awe, awe

Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon
It’s always been inside of you, you, you
And now it’s time to let it through

‘Cause baby, you’re a firework
Come on, show ’em what you’re worth
Make ’em go, “Oh, oh, oh”
As you shoot across the sky
Baby, you’re a firework
Come on, let your colors burst
Make ’em go, “Oh, oh, oh”
You’re gonna leave ’em all in awe, awe, awe

Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon
Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon

As I Reap The Dreams That I Have Sown – A Harvest Song

There’s thunder in the sky,
the sickle flashes by.
As I hurry to cut down the corn.

I reap with a happy sigh,
as swift swallows fly.
The field must be done by Sunday morn.

I’ve struggled and hoped,
clinging to a frayed rope.
Until roots took hold, new futures were born.
Now I’ve got to be bold, leave behind what I’ve been told.

Forget about the lonely tears I weeped.
As I reap the dreams that I have sown.

The harvest moon glow,
when I life changes sow.
As I sing beneath the sickle moon.

I’ll rise above my woes,
when the change of seasons blows.
As I dance scy-clad to her freeing tune.

Forget about the lonely tears I weeped.
As I reap the dreams that I have sown.

I’ve sown the seeds,
that my soul will free.
Time to harvest them just like the corn.

I’ve learnt to know my needs,
to my muses feed.
Now let creativity my life adorn.

I’ve struggled and hoped,
clinging to a frayed rope.
Until roots took hold, new futures were born.
Now I’ve got to be bold, leave behind what I’ve been told.

Forget about the lonely tears I weeped.
As I reap the dreams that I have sown.

As I reap the dreams that I have sown.

Written for earthweal’s weekly challenge: LAMMAS. I was so inspired by the song in the prompt, a 14th century song about the death and rebirth of the barley crop (video below), that I had to write one of my own.

Of sowing and reaping, growing and weeping, of dreams becoming reality.

Hello by Lionel Richie – Saturday Song

Hello by Lionel Richie

After writing “Goodbye, I don’t want to see you go!” yesterday, an alternate lyric, tonight’s Saturday Song was given.

Hello by Lionel Richie from 1983. With that, by now, classic phrase “Hello, is it me you’re looking for?”

A song and an artist who is part of my childhood. He was a favorite of my mother so I listened quite a lot to him as a child, and liked both the longing for love songs and the happy “dancing on the ceiling” type songs. However corny or cheesy my peers thought it was.

The music video, of a teacher pining for his blind student, is both creepy and cringe worthy. It was then and is even more so by today’s standard.
Decided to include it to show how it could look in an era when music videos where still called films and often aspired to emulate real ones.

Enjoy!

Hello – Lyrics

I’ve been alone with you inside my mind
And in my dreams I’ve kissed your lips a thousand times
I sometimes see you pass outside my door
Hello, is it me you’re looking for?

I can see it in your eyes, I can see it in your smile
You’re all I’ve ever wanted and my arms are open wide
‘Cause you know just what to say, and you know just what to do
And I want to tell you so much, I love you

I long to see the sunlight in your hair
And tell you time and time again how much I care
Sometimes I feel my heart will overflow
Hello, I’ve just got to let you know

‘Cause I wonder where you are and I wonder what you do
Are you somewhere feeling lonely or is someone loving you?
Tell me how to win your heart, for I haven’t got a clue
But let me start by saying, I love you

Hello, is it me you’re looking for?

‘Cause I wonder where you are and I wonder what you do
Are you somewhere feeling lonely or is someone loving you?
Tell me how to win your heart, for I haven’t got a clue
But let me start by saying, I love you
I love you
I love you

Is it me you’re looking for?
Hello, is it me you’re looking for?

‘Cause I wonder where you are and I wonder what you do
Are you somewhere feeling lonely or is someone loving you?
Tell me how to win your heart, for I haven’t got a clue
But let me start by saying, I love you
I love you
I love you

Hello, is it me you’re looking for?
Is it me, is it me, is it me
Is it me you’re looking for?
Is it me, is it me

Hello by Lionel Richie

Goodbye, I don’t want to see you go! – Lyric

I’ve been in love with you for a long time
And in my mind I know such love, are hard to find
I wish I had my love more clearly shown
Goodbye, I don’t want to see you go!

I can feel it in my heart
How you want to be apart
You’re all I ever wanted, yet I wrecked and crushed your heart
Cause I know I let you down
And I know I betrayed your trust
When I should have shown you how much, I love you

I’ll miss the naughty sparkle in your eyes
It makes me cry hot tears to know I’ll never see your secret smile
I wish I could go back and let you know
Goodbye, I don’t want to see you go!

Cause I know I did you wrong
I can’t seem to make it right
You’ll leave me very lonely
I’ll never love someone like you
Tell me how to win you back
For I haven’t got a clue
But let me start by saying, I love you

Goodbye, I don’t want to see you go!
Cause I know I did you wrong
I can’t seem to make it right
You’ll leave me very lonely
I’ll never love someone like you
Tell me how to win you back
For I haven’t got a clue
But let me start by saying, I love you

Written for Hello, It’s Me You’re Looking For – Challenge #187 at Mindlovemisery’s Menagerie. Where we’re asked to

“focus on this song and use it for a short story, a piece of flash fiction, or a poem that you can share”

The song is Lionel Richie’s Hello, It’s Me You’re Looking For from 1983. Lionel Richie was a favorite of my mother so I listened quite a lot to him as a child, and liked both the longing for love songs and the happy “dancing on the ceiling” type songs.

Listening to it as I took a walk this afternoon I got the idea to try to keep the same kind of longing, but flipping the script from an imagined love to one that is over. The inspiration for that comes from someone near who has made a mess out of his marriage and doesn’t know how to take even the first steps to save it.

After a few more repeats I got it into my head to try to keep to the melody and write an alternate lyric. It helps to know the song by heart, meaning I’m able to keep the melody in my mind and write line for line new ones. After very much debate I left the last two lines of the chorus as in the original, because frankly I couldn’t write anything better.

I’ve included a link to an instrumental version for those that like to try and sing the lyrics!

The Dance by Garth Brooks – Saturday Song

The Dance by Garth Brooks

I’m always very proud and a bit embarrassed whenever someone comments that one of my poems reminds them of a song. Proud because it feels like I’ve made it. Embarrassed because it feels like I’m not worthy of such comparisons. I’m working hard to do something about that last part.

That being said, my inspiration for this weekend’s song comes from Dwight at Roth poetry, who commented that my poem “When opportunity comes to call” made him think of “The Dance” by Garth Brooks

Listening to it, my pride and embarrassment got replaced by amazement. It is such a beautiful song. And here I want to use a Swedish word without a direct English translation. Finstämd which means sweet, touching, moving the heart and soul. (Finely attuned, finely-tuned, delicate and sensitive according to my dictionary.)

I teared up as I sat listening. Touched by the song and by being able to write something that reminded Dwight of it.

I relate very much to the refrain. Yes, sometimes foreknowledge would have made it possible to avoid heartache and pain, but inevitably it would have meant missing moments that will forever shine like stars in our memory. And I for one prefer having the memories, having lived and loved.

Listen and enjoy!

The Dance – Lyrics

Looking back on the memory of
The dance we shared ‘neath the stars above
For a moment all the world was right
How could I have known that you’d ever say goodbye

And now I’m glad I didn’t know
The way it all would end, the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance
I could have missed the pain
But I’d have had to miss the dance

Holding you, I held everything
For a moment wasn’t I the king
If I’d only known how the king would fall
Hey, who’s to say, you know I might have changed it all

And now I’m glad I didn’t know
The way it all would end, the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance
I could have missed the pain
But I’d have had to miss the dance

If our lives are better left to chance
Oh, our lives are better left to chance
Oh, our lives are better left to chance

I could have missed the pain
But I’d have had to miss the dance
