Requisites For A Happy Life

Photography by Artist, Jasper James

Where do you find the requisites for a happy life?

Out there among the pulsing life among the highrises neon lights?
Further afield among the hills and forest natural flow?

Twirling in flashing lights, feet guided by the baseline.
Breathing deep in the forest calm, guided to the core of it all.

Searching alone, yet connected by the song,
composed out of human throng?
Under clear blue or starlit skies,
bathed in the moon’s glow.

Or in the discrepancies and journey between the two?
Not in either or, but in the full enjoyment of the best of both.

Daily Haibun, June 27th – Blue Sky, Pink Clouds

© RedCat

Just after ten at night. The sun is setting in a blue sky with wisp’s of clouds painted pink.

I’m seeking calm, inspiration and insights by looking at the sky. Listening to the birds singing. For a moment I feel the peace and joy you only find by slowing your breath. Being present in the moment.

In the pale blue sky
Moment stretches eternal
Soaring with birdsong

Let me run with you (2020 Re-post)

Re-post comment:

It’s Wednesday and time to wander the archives. Decided to share this poem that are inspired both by the photo and a book that influenced me a lot. (Read more below.)

Twenty months after deciding to take my writing online – to share my souls lust – I can say it have been one of the best and most rewarding decisions of my life.

I’ve learned and evolved so much, found a sharing and caring writing community I couldn’t even imagine before.

Thank you all! ❤️

Leader of the pack
High priestess of the coven
Knowing every secret track
Supported by her dozen

Between you stand a suppliant
Heart and soul plea
Broken good girl remnant
Growth requires room to be free

Surrender myself to your wisdom
There’s nothing left but inner trust
No time left to be steered by the fearsome
Break free, return to life governed by soul’s lust

Once again this photo prompt is eerie in its synchronicity. The other day I listened to a podcast that mentioned a book I haven’t thought of in years. Tried to find it, to no avail. Then this photo, that touches upon the book, my thoughts, my insights… Everything swirling around right now, due to my intense meditation schedule. So I searched for the book again. Without finding it. Tomorrow I’ll head to the attic to search some more…

The book I’m talking about is – Women Who Run with the Wolves. Read this article – which happen to contain marvelous art – to know why you should read it.

Poem inspired by the photo from Sunday Muse # 96.

The first warm sun (2020 Re-post)

Re-post comment:

Looking for what to re-post for today’s wander in the archives this meditation poem gave me strength and peace of mind. Hope you can feel some of that too!

Enjoy!

The first warm sun rays of spring
Warm upon my cheek
A breeze turns it into gentle caress
Brilliant light dances behind closed lids
First spring touch kiss my lips
Natures warm embrace surrounds me
Comforting, healing
Life affirming

The Goddess gently touches
Starburst erupts
Showering me with universal love
Connecting me to me
To every living thing
Assuring me there will be a way
A path out of darkness
My trek dotted with oases of calm
Peace, connection, love
Moments of bliss

Secure points in a bewildering maze
Built of old and new trauma
Fear, sorrow, dark despair
Life-ending depression

Inner trust and faith will guide me through
Inborn strength a given armour
Intelligens, wit and wisdom deduce true from false
The quest might be lonely
Yet aided by care and love
Freely given, by friends yet to be found

Breathe
Be still
Accept
Give thankfulness

Use your pen
Jot both now and then
Hone your craft
Draft by draft
Writing will illuminate
Meditation germinate
Revision concentrate
New life emancipate

Today again the will to make poetry out of my meditation overtook me soon thereafter. :-)

Also posted to earthweal open link weekend #8.

Blackbirds Dusk Sings

©RedCat

As the blackbirds dusk sings

Breathing the last rays of light peace brings

Stills my always racing busy mind

So I can the inner center find

Flooding my heart with love and hope

The sustenance I need to with life’s difficulties cope

Monday’s Haibun prompt, telling us to focus our writing on the present moment made me realise deep in my bones how much I (once again) lost my meditation practice and need to regain it. So a little walk tonight in the twilight to breathe and collect my thoughts after a busy day. And as always when I manage to do that words spill out of me demanding to be written. Another reason to get back on the meditation track.

I have not altered the light, in either picture, that is Swedish spring twilight. The first one cherry blossoms shortly before nine pm yesterday. The other was taken down by the water about two months ago.

Restless Body and Mind

Restless body and mind
Failing to restfulness find
Forever this anxious merry-go-round
Will peace and quiet ever be found

A short little piece to end the week. To express how it feels to live with a mind always going on maximum speed. That thinks on and evaluates everything from every possible, unlikely and down right impossible angle. That doesn’t slow down even when both body and mind are exhausted. It just gets more far fetched and scattered.

Sometimes meditating works, often it doesn’t. Instead just cropping up new things to throw in the mix. Far from all thoughts are anxious, but when it spins that fast sooner or later stress and anxiety creeps in.

Inspired by this week’s weekend writing prompt from Sammi Cox.

Humans Really Don’t Know (2020 Re-post)

“The Sea Inside”  painting by Samy Charnine

Humans really don’t know
How life is to stardust souls
Forced to hibernate like bears in snow
Only feeling the truth trough small portholes

Humans really don’t know
How life with an awakened soul
Could lead to a constant flow
Of abundant love through soul’s window

Humans really don’t know
How life led by true purpose of soul
Where gratitude leads to divine inner glow
Calmly transform their minds inner fishbowl

Humans really don’t know
How to manifest all they want via their souls
How to choose lifelong learning and growth
How into spiritual living while in flesh enroll

Wednesday and time to wander the archives. Since it’s GloPoWriMo 2021 I thought I’d share one of the most read post from April last year. The original was posted 26 April 2020.

Enjoy!

Written in response to the beautiful and thought inducing painting at Sunday Muse # 105. Made me read up on the symbolism on Koi fish. And they seem to symbolize a whole bunch of good things. Tenacity, Wealth, Abundance, Luck, Courage, Transformation, Uniqueness, Non-conformity, Family Strength and have lots of Buddhist Connotations. (source)

Snowflakes Dances Down

Snowflakes dances down
Tickling nose and cheeks
Covering the world with a down blanket

Muffles every sound
Except the footfalls squeak
The swish of a winter jacket

Breath deep and ground
With your hidden sides speak
Plant seeds for regrowth under the snow carpet
