Zitti e buoni by Måneskin – Saturday Song

Zitti e buoni by Måneskin

Decided earlier today that tonight there could only be one song. Whoever won the Eurovision Song Contest. Whatever I thought of it. And however late it got.

The show started at 9 pm and usually runs late. Surprisingly, or maybe not with my night owl genes, my nine year old managed to stay awake until the end at 12:45 am.

So here you have Italy’s “Zitti e buoni” with Måneskin (Moonshine in Danish). The title means “Shut up and be quiet”. You can read an english translation of the lyrics at wiwibloggs.

Enjoy!

Lovers in Paris by Jacob Gurevitsch – Saturday Song

Lovers in Paris by Jacob Gurevitsch

Tonight’s song is an instrumental. And one of those I wouldn’t have known had it not been for my dance training.

I really love the dreamy feel of this one, the passion, love and longing.

Enjoy!

Believer by Imagine Dragons – Saturday Song

Believer by Imagine Dragons

I’m still in so much pain from my shoulder that I can’t use the arm, sleep, think or write. So tonight I chose a song that I truly could write a lot about. But won’t. Let’s just say it resonates strongly with me normally and even more so right now.

The corous goes:

Pain! You made me a, you made me a
Believer, believer
Pain! You break me down and build me up
Believer, believer
Pain! Oh, let the bullets fly, oh, let them rain
My life, my love, my drive, it came from…
Pain! You made me a, you made me a
Believer, believer

From Believer by Imagine Dragons

Hope everyone has a better weekend then me!

You Can’t Handle Me by Thundermother – Saturday Song

You Can’t Handle Me by Thundermother

It’s Saturday and time for a song. As you might have noticed by now my song taste is eclectic.
So tonight we’re going rock’n’roll!

Released just yesterday! You Can’t Handle Me, by the Swedish band Thundermother.

This one would probably have evaded me if not for the fact that one of my dance instructors is the director of the music video.

So hit play and enjoy a showcase of female strength.

Enjoy!

Scarborough Fair/Canticle by Simon & Garfunkel – Saturday Song

Scarborough Fair/Canticle by Simon & Garfunkel

Again I forgot about my Saturday Song, maybe I should rename it weekend songs, or try to write and schedule them in advance…?

Anyhow. This week I had Scarborough Fair on my mind. Because one of the art pieces for the 13th in April Ekphrastic Challenge (GloPoWriMo for me this year) was a painting of Scarborough Harbour

I have loved this song since I was little. And I got delighted when I found a webpage who details the history of this folk song. Or more correctly the song family, dating back 300 years, that it belongs to.

So I’ll end the week and say good night with this song.

Enjoy!

Green Light by Lorde – Saturday Song

Green Light by Lorde

Saturday and I thought for once I try to put up my Saturday Song well before midnight.

Tonight you’ll get a Green Light by Lorde. An artist I had read about but not listened to until synchronicity struck.

Someone I recently got to know started to talk about Lorde’s music, and dVerse hosted a Synesthesia prompt, where she was prominent. After that I started to listen to her and directly fell in love with her music. So here’s one of her songs that instantly makes me smile and feel better whatever life has thrown at me that day. To say nothing of how much I just want to dance like there’s no tomorrow.

I’ve written two Synesthesia inspired poems, Colours of the Choir and Trapped Within A Glass-Shard Maze.

Enjoy!

There’s No Business Like Show Business with Ethel Merman

There’s No Business Like Show Business with Ethel Merman

From Wikipedia:
“There’s No Business Like Show Business” is an Irving Berlin song, written for the 1946 musical Annie Get Your Gun and orchestrated by Ted Royal. The song, a slightly tongue-in-cheek salute to the glamour and excitement of a life in show business, is sung in the musical by members of Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show in an attempt to persuade Annie Oakley to join the production.

There’s been so much writing for GloPoWriMo and Easter this weekend I totally forgot about a Saturday Song.
So you’ll get this since it’s been on my mind since the first episode of the Swedish version of Masked Singer.

I know not everyone likes musicals, but I was brought up with seeing old movie versions and singing them so they hold a special place in my heart.

Enjoy!

Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on My HeadLåt by B.J. Thomas – Saturday Song

Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on My HeadLåt by B.J. Thomas

This week’s Saturday Song is an oldie but goodie, from 1969. That for some reason only the earworm knows started to play in my head as I took an evening walk.

Enjoy!

Raindrops keep falling on my head

But that doesn’t mean my eyes will soon be turning red

Crying’s not for me

‘Cause I’m never gonna stop the rain by complaining

Because I’m free

Nothing’s worrying me

It won’t be long till happiness steps up to greet me
