Firework by Katy Perry – Saturday Song

Firework by Katy Perry

After writing both As I Reap The Dreams That I Have Sown and August Approaches yesterday, I decided that tonight’s Saturday Song had to be one about overcoming obstacles, adversity, challenges and hard times. About not giving up, even when that’s all you feel like doing. I found this list of songs about all that. So I started to read lyrics and the choice fell on Firework by Katy Perry

Do you ever feel like a plastic bag
Drifting through the wind, wanting to start again?
Do you ever feel, feel so paper thin
Like a house of cards, one blow from cavin’ in?
Do you ever feel already buried deep?
Six feet under screams, but no one seems to hear a thing

From Firework by Katy Perry

I know exactly how that feels. But now I have to get away from that, find my voice, develop my passion and allow my light to shine bright.

Enjoy!

Firework – Lyrics

Do you ever feel like a plastic bag
Drifting through the wind, wanting to start again?
Do you ever feel, feel so paper thin
Like a house of cards, one blow from cavin’ in?
Do you ever feel already buried deep?
Six feet under screams, but no one seems to hear a thing
Do you know that there’s still a chance for you?
‘Cause there’s a spark in you

You just gotta ignite the light
And let it shine
Just own the night
Like the Fourth of July

‘Cause baby, you’re a firework
Come on, show ’em what you’re worth
Make ’em go, “Oh, oh, oh”
As you shoot across the sky
Baby, you’re a firework
Come on, let your colors burst
Make ’em go, “Oh, oh, oh”
You’re gonna leave ’em all in awe, awe, awe

You don’t have to feel like a waste of space
You’re original, cannot be replaced
If you only knew what the future holds
After a hurricane comes a rainbow
Maybe a reason why all the doors are closed
So you could open one that leads you to the perfect road
Like a lightning bolt, your heart will glow
And when it’s time, you’ll know

You just gotta ignite the light
And let it shine
Just own the night
Like the Fourth of July

‘Cause baby, you’re a firework
Come on, show ’em what you’re worth
Make ’em go, “Oh, oh, oh”
As you shoot across the sky
Baby, you’re a firework
Come on, let your colors burst
Make ’em go, “Oh, oh, oh”
You’re gonna leave ’em all in awe, awe, awe

Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon
It’s always been inside of you, you, you
And now it’s time to let it through

‘Cause baby, you’re a firework
Come on, show ’em what you’re worth
Make ’em go, “Oh, oh, oh”
As you shoot across the sky
Baby, you’re a firework
Come on, let your colors burst
Make ’em go, “Oh, oh, oh”
You’re gonna leave ’em all in awe, awe, awe

Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon
Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon

Let me run with you (2020 Re-post)

Re-post comment:

It’s Wednesday and time to wander the archives. Decided to share this poem that are inspired both by the photo and a book that influenced me a lot. (Read more below.)

Twenty months after deciding to take my writing online – to share my souls lust – I can say it have been one of the best and most rewarding decisions of my life.

I’ve learned and evolved so much, found a sharing and caring writing community I couldn’t even imagine before.

Thank you all! ❤️

Leader of the pack
High priestess of the coven
Knowing every secret track
Supported by her dozen

Between you stand a suppliant
Heart and soul plea
Broken good girl remnant
Growth requires room to be free

Surrender myself to your wisdom
There’s nothing left but inner trust
No time left to be steered by the fearsome
Break free, return to life governed by soul’s lust

Once again this photo prompt is eerie in its synchronicity. The other day I listened to a podcast that mentioned a book I haven’t thought of in years. Tried to find it, to no avail. Then this photo, that touches upon the book, my thoughts, my insights… Everything swirling around right now, due to my intense meditation schedule. So I searched for the book again. Without finding it. Tomorrow I’ll head to the attic to search some more…

The book I’m talking about is – Women Who Run with the Wolves. Read this article – which happen to contain marvelous art – to know why you should read it.

Poem inspired by the photo from Sunday Muse # 96.

My darling daughter – Verse Epistle

My darling curious quick witten daughter,
my love for you will never falter.
Life’s greatest joy is to be your father.

You are a wonder to my old eyes,
your lust for life always makes me smile.
Ever since you came to us under a full moonrise.

I will always be your steadfast rock.
Always protect you like a keen eyed hawk.
Always there if you need a hug or to talk.

I am forever proud and grateful,
I have a child so caring and merciful.
Thankful the universe entrusted me with a soul so beautiful.

My greatest wish for you is a life filled with love,
with friends and laughter and the freedom of,
letting dreams grow wings to fly the heavens like a dove.

A letter or perhaps a diary entry, I spent my lonely childhood dreaming of. Something to hold close to my heart, something that would tell me I was once loved and cherished.

I’m glad I finally found a way to write what that little girl so dearly needs!

Written for Exploring the poetic genre: “Verse Epistle” over at dVerse.

Hiding in Darkness

Backing away from life
Hiding in trembling fright
In fear of meeting any strife
Hiding in darkness, afraid of the light

Once she was curios and free
Convinced of her dreams might
Now she’s brought to her knees
Hiding in darkness, afraid of the light

Beaten until she sought the dark
Hiding her bruises from sight
Convinced she’s forever marked
Hiding in darkness, afraid of the light

Feeling like she’ll never be able to cope
Like life will always be a fight
Search in vain for that speck of hope
Hiding in darkness, afraid of the light

To conquer a life lived in fear
She needs to a new way write
Allowing the flow of liberating tears
Leaving the darkness, going towards the light

Will you meet her with friendly hands and face
Guiding eyes dimmed with perpetual night
Lending her some of your steadfast grace
As she’s
Leaving the darkness, going towards the light

Written for every abused person in the world. To show there is possible to go from darkness to light. To leave abuse and have another free life.

I Was Born– January Ekphrastic Challenge, January 17

Kerfe Roig – I was born (after Yayoi Kusama)

I was born
Blank slate
Touched by neither prophesy nor fate

I was born
Budding traits
Balancing on point til they meet love or hate

I was born
Curiosity great
Learned my sex should their minds prostrate

I was born
Told to wait
Stay still, be quiet, one day someone chooses you as mate

I was born
Killed as bait
Some women never get scared witless nor straight

I was reborn
To illustrate
There’s life after trauma that minds titillate

I was reborn
Myself dedicate
The right to survive and freedom to thrive reinstate

I was reborn
Souls to elate
To love and pain vividly narrate

I was reborn
Loving state
New creative and passionate adventures await

Solitude and I

Abandoned and abused, I grew to fear you
But in truth, I where reared by you

Bullied as other, ostracized by my peers
Alone with daily jeers, leers and snears
Childhood and adolescence, year after year
Branding me as strange and queer

Yours the only company to keep me near
Convincing me I’m a mere shadow
Not really alive, not supposed to be here

Developed intimate knowledge of all your tiers
As loneliness you have tooth and claws that tear
Lead chains that trust steer
Forged by every untruth spear
Betrayal heart and soul sear
Invisible barriers separating, from those you hold dear

Dark lonely nights your visits I fear
Haunted hours filled with tears
Leaving me hollow and sheer
As pale dawn washes the heavens clear

After becoming a mother, I’ve started to befriend you, we’re
Old pals, whatever the history, that’s clear
Nowadays I even hold our moments dear
Filled with new knowledge, hope and trust
I’ll never again from my own side veer

All that I seek
I can find within my own heart soul sphere

This piece where not something I wished to write, but perhaps needed to write, as whatever I thought about the subject solitude – that I express both it and loneliness quite often – got drowned out by this piece rhymes running in loops in my mind.

In the prompt Björn writes;
In today’s situation of social distancing, we all have taken a crash course in loneliness, and when learning to cope. Today I would like you to write about your own experience with how you find strength in solitude or how you still struggle with loneliness.

Return To New Normal

Photo by Oleg Magni on Pexels.com

What will the world look after the pandemic? How will the geopolitical landscape change? How will that affect me personally?
Will one catastrophe lead us to accept responsibility for, and take action against, the looming human made climate emergency.

Even before the pandemic my life where in flux, changing. It still is.
A history of unprocessed trauma, a newly acquired trauma activating full PTSD and leading to major depression, will do that to a life. But now the urgency to imagine a better future, for all humans, feels even more acute.

So what should I do? Change career?
Change residence from city to wildwood?
First step. Change myself to the core! Rewriting those programs that prohibits self-love, true self, esteem, courage to live my truth, my goals, my dreams.

In springs pale rebirth
I see the truth of seasons
Birth, growth, change, rebirth
