Let me run with you (2020 Re-post)

Re-post comment:

It’s Wednesday and time to wander the archives. Decided to share this poem that are inspired both by the photo and a book that influenced me a lot. (Read more below.)

Twenty months after deciding to take my writing online – to share my souls lust – I can say it have been one of the best and most rewarding decisions of my life.

I’ve learned and evolved so much, found a sharing and caring writing community I couldn’t even imagine before.

Thank you all! ❤️

Leader of the pack
High priestess of the coven
Knowing every secret track
Supported by her dozen

Between you stand a suppliant
Heart and soul plea
Broken good girl remnant
Growth requires room to be free

Surrender myself to your wisdom
There’s nothing left but inner trust
No time left to be steered by the fearsome
Break free, return to life governed by soul’s lust

Once again this photo prompt is eerie in its synchronicity. The other day I listened to a podcast that mentioned a book I haven’t thought of in years. Tried to find it, to no avail. Then this photo, that touches upon the book, my thoughts, my insights… Everything swirling around right now, due to my intense meditation schedule. So I searched for the book again. Without finding it. Tomorrow I’ll head to the attic to search some more…

The book I’m talking about is – Women Who Run with the Wolves. Read this article – which happen to contain marvelous art – to know why you should read it.

Poem inspired by the photo from Sunday Muse # 96.

Strange, Weird and Twisted – Ekprastic Challenge, January 31

Kerfe Roig – The Strange

Strange rooms shrouded in gloom
Weird sounds echoing in tune
Twisted hallways leading to doom

Strange sights searing the eyes
Weird thoughts rapidly flashing by
Twisted emotions a chorus of cries

Strange voices calling away
Weird doors leading nowhere
Twisted pathways going astray

Strange is the trauma scarred view
Weird is the bullied souls milieu
Twisted is the heart lied to

Fall Maiden – A Sonett, Ekphrastic Challenge, January 19

Kerfe Roig – Second Autumn

The flowing tresses of auburn man bind
Follow drawn by every curvy sashay
Swift bubbly laughter sings love in their mind
Among leaves twirling she dances away

Smile drawing the hunting merry wild chase
Darting vision of fall forest beauty
Feet leaping lightly through swaying trunk maze
Further into skin on skin, touch frenzy

Green dusted with gold secret yearning hold
Unlock with a honest champion heart
Requires her suitors to be fiery bold
Adore her, love her, never be apart

Deep in the woods on a bed of soft straw
Men worship her season with spellbound awe

Edit August 19th 2021

Read at Open Link Night 298 – August live edition at dVerse.

Inspired by Kerfe’s artwork and the Swedish folkloric creature the Skogrså (or Huldra), who lures unawares men into the woods. She has a male counterpart drowning women and children – Näcken, who appeared either as an enticing fiddler or a beautiful horse.

I actually remember being warned of the Näcken as a young child and hearing about the Huldra. The cautionary elements of both beings – don’t get lost in the endless woods, and don’t bathe in unknown waters – still ran strong in the countryside in the 1980’s.

Been wanting to write a sonnet for a while but haven’t found the right inspiration. Today I did thanks to falling deeply Kerfe’s artwork.

Contagion

Sukhothai Historical Park, Thailand

Slowly awareness return
Muddled, confused, dizzy
Like after fainting
Disoriented thoughts drift
Why alone
Empty streets
Silent towns
Where are all the people
Is this a dream, nightmare, vision
Am I called to witness rapture
Or my thoughts come true
Just opposite
Instead of the world without me
Me without the human world
I walk for hours
Seeing not one human soul
Just abundant wildlife
Eventually comes fatigue, hunger
Loss of hope
Realization dawns
As the sun sets
Wherever, whenever this is
The answer lies in stillness, awareness
Receiving, universal love, gratitude, being
Settle into lotus, breathe
Hope rises with consciousness
