March Morning Meditation

© RedCat

Morning dawns

Frost covering the lawns

Ten below zero

Radiating fairy glow

Cold and clear

No hint spring is near

Soon there’s a haze

Icy cold air rising

Lifted by the sun’s rays

Winter vaporising

Gentle touch on skin

Warmth starts to seep in

Giving cause

To slow down and pause

Halt the morning commute

Let deep breaths inner landscape transmute

Calms and quiets the angry anxious din

Roaring deep within

Giving peace and clarity of thought

Reducing the turmoil chaos wrought

Showing there’s no need to hesitate

Seek the benefits of taking a short moment to breathe and meditate

Changing the trajectory of morning and day

Allowing what the world throws at you to be handled in a more constructive conductive way

For the first time in ages I felt the drive to meditate. I’m grateful I did. Since it both started off my day in a better way, and sparked my creativity to write a short poem on my morning commute.

Spirit of Ice – Flash Fiction

PHOTO PROMPT© Jennifer Pendergast

I awoke in the night. Drawn by a strange song. It bubbled and splashed. Groaned and cracked. I found myself walking towards the fjord. Cold snow under bare feet made me realise I was in thrall. Stuck in a walking dream. Led by some evil Fay. My body felt sleep heavy. My mind treacle slow.

I managed to throw myself into a snowdrift. The cold woke me fully. Just feets from the water’s edge.

I’m my mind I heard a rumbling laugh. “I’ll get you yet, lass. There’s still time before the spring thaw. Your blood will make me stronger.”

Bright Flower Moon – A Haibun

Photo by Ash Ashley on Unsplash

Oh, how I longed for
magic returning under
the bright flower moon

The trees are that verdant spring green.
The fields are bursting with wildflowers.
The fiery passionate energy of spring is all around.
Buds bursting, animals mating, migratory birds sing their joy of returning to the lands of pale lighted summer nights.
Lifting the dark moods of winter, inviting renewal, change and growth.
Waking the song of lust and passion in my heart and soul.

Oh, how i wished for
a dream to become real
Now doubt, is it true?

Written for tonight’s Haibun prompt over at dVerse. Haibun Monday 5-24-21: Flower moon

“The Haibun form consists of one to a few paragraphs of prose—usually written in the present tense—that evoke an experience and are often non-fictional/autobiographical. They may be preceded or followed by one or more haiku—nature-based, using a seasonal image—that complement without directly repeating what the prose stated.”

Sounds Of Spring

Evening sky over Stockholm
©RedCat

The sounds of spring
makes me dance and sing
such a lovely thing
the sweet song of spring

The air turns warm
after winter storms
you our love affirm
with your smile so warm

The fields are green
the bright flowers gleam
will you be my queen
in the summer green

Love fills my heart
as the swallows dart
as cold winds depart
Your love fills my heart

The moon shines bright
in the pale blue night
in your eyes so bright
let us kiss tonight

Written for Meet the bar waltzing at dVerse. Have been humming waltz rhythms since yesterday. This is written to be sung to the count of three even if the first lines in each stanza have 4 syllables and the rest 5 syllables. It’s all a matter of how a word is sung.

The first warm sun (2020 Re-post)

Re-post comment:

Looking for what to re-post for today’s wander in the archives this meditation poem gave me strength and peace of mind. Hope you can feel some of that too!

Enjoy!

The first warm sun rays of spring
Warm upon my cheek
A breeze turns it into gentle caress
Brilliant light dances behind closed lids
First spring touch kiss my lips
Natures warm embrace surrounds me
Comforting, healing
Life affirming

The Goddess gently touches
Starburst erupts
Showering me with universal love
Connecting me to me
To every living thing
Assuring me there will be a way
A path out of darkness
My trek dotted with oases of calm
Peace, connection, love
Moments of bliss

Secure points in a bewildering maze
Built of old and new trauma
Fear, sorrow, dark despair
Life-ending depression

Inner trust and faith will guide me through
Inborn strength a given armour
Intelligens, wit and wisdom deduce true from false
The quest might be lonely
Yet aided by care and love
Freely given, by friends yet to be found

Breathe
Be still
Accept
Give thankfulness

Use your pen
Jot both now and then
Hone your craft
Draft by draft
Writing will illuminate
Meditation germinate
Revision concentrate
New life emancipate

Today again the will to make poetry out of my meditation overtook me soon thereafter. :-)

A Sea Of Blue

The forest hills, a sea of blue
Like my heart’s longing for you
Spring awakened the feeling anew
Pain of longing, so blue

The forest hills, a sea of blue
Twinkling sapphires in the morning dew
Like my tears as we said adieu
Heart longing, so blue

The forest hills, a sea of blue
Ocean deep like my love for you
Your leaving torn my heart in two
Soul longing, so blue

Written for Blue Tuesday over at dVerse.

This prompt made me realize that blue is quite common in my writing.

Both as a sad heartbreak colour like in Girl Blue – A Love Song and Trapped Within A Glass-Shard Maze. As a hopeful sky colour like in Blue Star Horses and The Dawn Sky Is Ethereal Blue. And as the colour of dreams in Blue Forest Of Remembrance and Summer sky

Maybe I should try some other colours.

Walpurgis Night 2021

Photo by Kyle Peyton on Unsplash

As fickle April turns to green May
Winter’s cold, dark and snow are finally gone
We light bonfires to celebrate the returning sun
Rejoice in the lengthening hours of Nordic days

To the Goddess within we give our trust
In joy filled hymns we our voices raise
Green springs abundant fertility praise
As our hearts fill with awakened lust

Blackbirds Dusk Sings

©RedCat

As the blackbirds dusk sings

Breathing the last rays of light peace brings

Stills my always racing busy mind

So I can the inner center find

Flooding my heart with love and hope

The sustenance I need to with life’s difficulties cope

Monday’s Haibun prompt, telling us to focus our writing on the present moment made me realise deep in my bones how much I (once again) lost my meditation practice and need to regain it. So a little walk tonight in the twilight to breathe and collect my thoughts after a busy day. And as always when I manage to do that words spill out of me demanding to be written. Another reason to get back on the meditation track.

I have not altered the light, in either picture, that is Swedish spring twilight. The first one cherry blossoms shortly before nine pm yesterday. The other was taken down by the water about two months ago.
