We must celebrate spring,
we must dance and singWe must gather and bring,
bone-dry kindling for burningFor tonight we go feasting,
Dance together and singSongs of Beltane and spring,
songs of weaving to bringOur sweet Goddess her King,
to their seasonal weddingWe raise our voices to sing,

rejoice the rebirth of spring
Written for tonight’s MTB – Hopscotch with Anapestic tetrameter at dVerse. Anapestic tetrameter is by far the hardest meter I’ve tried so far, but maybe I just haven’t gotten into the rhythm yet. I chose to break the 12 syllable lines in two to get in an extra internal rhyme.

Spring is definitely a time to celebrate and sing!
This was fine stuff Helene, well written… snd a joyous May Day to you!
I think your poem works, I just hope your poem does the trick. Six inches of snow today. The mulch that melts, and hopefully soon.
Such a lyrical meter, it suits the spirit of the festival!
Very well done Helene! Yes, lets Celebrate Spring!!
This was a fun song of spring witchery in perfect opposition to the Samhain writings on Earthweal about 6 months ago.
Helene, you’re the rhythm queen! I love how you broke the 12 syllables to achieve a little skip as well as the internal rhyme.
I like the format, splitting the lines, the couplets and the end rhymes making this the perfect chant for Spring.
I like a ritual sending flames to the sky to honor the season. You’ve done a great job with the challenging rhythm of it.
Joyous tribute to Spring!
I fell in love with the amazing image and the poetry that followed … cheers.
I love it and even though all the fires have been cancelled this year I feel that I can remember how it used to be,
It feels weird doesn’t it. Like spring can’t really happen unless we light fires and sing it’s praise. Never actually thought I’d miss Valborg so much.
